ONYO KWA WANAOANGALIA TOVUTI ZA NGONO KWENYE SIMU

Ramsey Kassim | 6:16:00 PM | | Be first to comment

Ramsey Kassim | 12:36:00 PM | | Be first to comment

Ramsey Kassim | 4:40:00 PM | | | Be first to comment
Pictured above is Daniel Nartey, a Ghanaian man who dresses in a suit to hawk water melon around Madina in Ghana’s capital, Accra to eke a living.

When asked why he dresses this way, Daniel said; “My pastor always says dress well no matter the job you do, so I decided to wear a suit. Some laugh at me, others encourage me and are willing to help me” Daniel says his dressing gives him an edge which helps him make 100 % profit after sales “I make 100% profit.

I think it is because of how I dress, people notice me easily and want to buy from me,” Mr Nartey said.

The 25-year-old is a primary school teacher and sells watermelon during weekends and when the school is on vacation. He is saving up to buy an oven and wants to one day own his own snack bar.

MEET 179 YRS OLD MAN WHO SAYS DEATH HAS FORGOTTEN HIM

Mahashta Mûrasi is a 179 Indian man born in Bangalore in January 6th, 1835. He has lived in Vârânasî since 1903. He worked as a cobbler in the city until 1957, when he retired at the already venerable age of 122.

Mahashta Mûrasi who claimed all his grand-children have all died for years, explained that somehow death has forgotten him and that he has lost hope to die. Mahashta Mûrasi who claims he may be immortal now says that death may not kill him again claiming that nobody dies after 150 years.

The man’s birth certificate and identity cards all seem to confirm his version, but unfortunately no medical examination can confirm his saying for now. The last doctor Mister Mûrasi visited died in 1971, so there is little information available about his previous medical files. Would you like to live that long?

FORMER BANK OF TANZANIA (BOT ADVISED THE CENTRAL BANK TO USE FOREIGN CURRENCY

Ramsey Kassim | 12:51:00 PM | | Be first to comment
Arusha. Former Bank of Tanzania (BoT) Governor Edwin Mtei, yesterday advised the central bank to use foreign currency reserves in a bid to prevent the shilling from depreciating further against the greenback.
The local currency has of late tumbled to as low as Sh2,015 against the US dollar. Mr Mtei said in an interview with The Citizen that the BoT was the sole organ which could bail out the local currency at the moment.
“This is a technical matter, not a political one,” said Mr Mtei, adding that blames levelled against foreigners were politically motivated.
The founding leader of the opposition party, Chadema, called on the central bank to make use of its experts to stabilise the Shilling.
Mr Mtei, who resigned following a similar depreciation, said the central bank was duty bound to assist the government in controlling imports including by supplying foreign currencies to that effect.

CRDB PROFIT SHARE UP BY 7.1 PER CENT

Ramsey Kassim | 12:03:00 PM | | | Be first to comment
CRDB Bank Managing Director Dr Charles Kimei speaks during the bank’s stakeholders’ forum in Dar es Salaam yesterday.

Investors with CRDB Bank will put on broad smiles this year as the financial entity has raised dividend issuance by 7.1 per cent.
At the same time, Tanzania’s largest bank in terms of balance sheet, is expecting to raise capital through rights issue as it embarks on an ambitious national and regional expansion plan.

It targets a subsidiary in Lubumbashi in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The bank also has operations in Burundi.

Investors with the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange (DSE) listed bank will share a total of Sh32.7 billion in dividends from last year’s profit, up from a total of Sh32.7 billion that was shared last year.

The dividend has gone up due to an increase in the bank’s profit during the 2014 calendar year.

EAC MUST SECURE PEACE IN BURUNDI FOR STABILITY

Protesters run past a Burundian police riot van in Musaga, on the ourskirts of Bujumbura, on April 27, 2015. Police and opposition activists clashed on the second day of protests against a bid by the central African nation’s president to seek a controversial third term in office.  PHOTO | AFP

The situation in Burundi is dire, according to reports coming out of that country. Opposition parties have protested the decision by the ruling party, CNDD-FDD, to allow incumbent President Pierre Nkurunziza to stand for a third term in the poll scheduled for June.
According to the Red Cross, at least seven people have been killed and 65 others injured. The violence is reportedly spreading to other provinces along with the capital, Bujumbura.
The developments in the tiny Central African nation, which is also a member of the East African Community, pose a major challenge to the efforts that ended a 13-year civil war that saw over 300,000 people killed. The mediation efforts, started by Julius Nyerere and later taken up by Nelson Mandela, resulted in the Arusha Peace and Reconciliation Accord.

EXPERTS EXPLAIN REASONS BEHIND FALL OF TZ SHILLING

Ramsey Kassim | 11:52:00 AM | | | Be first to comment
Dar es Salaam. Financial market practitioners are associating the depreciation of the shilling with the strengthening of American economy, which has seen a number of currencies across the world losing value.
ACI-Financial Market Association-Tanzania Chapter president Ivan Tarimo said the strengthening of the US economy has made the dollar stronger, thus pushing down the value of the other currencies.
He made the comments in Dar es Salaam, when the association members met to exchange ideas, besides announcing the start of searching for new leadership this month.

VODACOM BREAKS SILENCE ON SH700BN FRAUD ALLEGATION

Ramsey Kassim | 11:48:00 AM | | Be first to comment
Dar es Salaam. First it was just a rumour on social media, pretty much in the same way that Tanzania’s biggest scandals have started online. But Vodacom has finally broken its silence on the alleged $350 million (Sh700 billion) fraud.
In a carefully-worded statement, the firm says it has terminated a lucrative tender with one of its super dealers, Shivacom, over “duplicate airtime vouchers” circulating on the market.
The company sidestepped the term fraud in a statement sent to the media late on Thursday.
The Citizen could not independently verify the actual loss arising from the scam involving printing and distributing fake airtime recharge vouchers. But Vodacom strongly denied that the loss amounted to $350 million and said an anonymous blogger had grossly inflated the figure.

MAYWEATHER JR VS MANNY PACQUIAO ON MAY 2ND 2015

Ramsey Kassim | 9:12:00 PM | | | Be first to comment
While the weekend was filled with the news about what was going to happen or was happening at the Oscars, boxing fans around the world were still digesting the news about the upcoming fight between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao. I am one of them. Unlike many fans who jumped and shouted the word Yes at the top or couldn’t stop singing, humming and chanting, I sat down with the heightened senses calmly saying, “Finally, it is happening”. But I also phoned and texted couple of my close friends to share news or pass on the excitement.

It’s is, without a doubt, one of the most anticipated fights in recent history. A number of things makes this fight special [and I guess that is exactly what Mayweather wanted all along].

Manny and Pacquiao are both very well respected boxers [if that respect is not an understatement] with millions of fans behind their backs. Mayweather has never lost a professional fight. His current record is 47-0. That alone should widen your eyes and make you take a step back. But it’s true. No one has managed to beat him. Whether there is anything behind what we see in the ring or not, only him and his closest buddies know. With his chin high and shoulders back and a gleam in one of his eye, Mayweather is already boasting that come May 3rd his record will be 48-0!

TREVOR NOAH TO REPLACE JON STEWART AS HOST OF THE DAILY SHOW

South African comedian and certainly one of the best from Africa, Trevor Noah,  will succeed The Daily Host Show, Jon Stewart as the host of the Comedy Central show. According to the network statement, Trevor who is currently on tour in Dubai will try to cover the place left by Stewart who has hosted the show for nearly 16 years and led it to 23 Emmy Awards.
The unexpected promotion comes only few months since Trevor Noah,31,  joined the show as a contributor. He joined in December. But Noah who is hailed by many comedian as one kid with a sharp comic mind, seems to have wooed the executives of the show when it came to looking for Jon’s successor. He will become the first African to host such a monumental show and one of the widely watched shows in USA.

SHERIA 12 MPYA YA MASUALA YA MITANDAO TANZANIA VYBERCRIME ACT, 2015

Ramsey Kassim | 8:46:00 PM | | Be first to comment
